About Coach Putnam

 

After competing in track and cross country, I was assistant coach at Palomar College 3 years and earned a bachelors in kinesiology with teaching credential from Cal State San Marcos (our coach there was Steve Scott, American Mile Record holder, 134 times sub-four!)  As head coach of Track and Cross Country at Mission Hills and Vista High Schools, we consistently improved, including ten boys under a 5 minute mile in 2019, a girl in 4:55, and winning eight team championship titles in ten years.  I'm certified with USA Track & Field Level 1, and Level II in Endurance Events. I assisted my son's team to third place in 2022 and first place in the 2024 Texas Homeschool Championships. My wife and I moved our family to Texas in 2021 and our kids all run now!
